Massage Cupping Classes - May 2026

Why should you add massage cupping to your techniques?

Cupping is a simple, effective technique that offers numerous benefits by using suction to provide negative pressure, allowing you to work much deeper with less client discomfort and minimal strain to your body. This versatile technique mimics bodywork treatments ranging from deep tissue and myofascial release to the light movements of lymphatic drainage.

There are several options for studying massage cupping.

OPTION 1:
3 day 22 hr Level I certification

This 3 day certification class provides an understanding of how to apply negative pressure massage cupping to help alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase range of motion, and promote the healing process. You will leave class with a powerful tool to help your clients while relieving strain on your body, allowing you to work more effectively, deeper and with less discomfort.

OPTION 2:
1 day 6 hr Facial cupping class

This 1-day class will examine how applying negative pressure massage cupping to facial structures can help alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase the range of motion, enhance detoxification, and speed up the healing process. Using facial cups can be helpful whether or not you work on other parts of the body.

OPTION 3:
Both Classes

You can take both the Level I and facial cupping class over 4 days.

This 4-day 28 hr class will complete the Level I certification and add 1 portion of the Level II certification with a specific focus on the face.

Massage Cupping Level I Certification

(22 Texas and NCBTMB CE’s)

Cupping is a simple, effective technique that offers numerous benefits by using suction to provide negative pressure, allowing you to work much deeper with less client discomfort and minimal strain to your body. Begun in China thousands of years ago, cupping has been brought forward into the modern era.

By creating negative pressure above the surface of the tissues, we decrease the atmospheric pressure on the tissues, allowing the tissue to be lifted upwards and changing the pressure on underlying tissues, such as nerves, capillaries, lymphatic vessels and fascia. This enables renewed blood flow to undernourished tissue, helps to release soft tissue scars and restricted fascia, helps drain excess fluid and stimulates local circulation to tissues. This versatile technique mimics bodywork treatments ranging from deep tissue and myofascial release to the light movements of lymphatic drainage.

This 3 day certification class provides a basic understanding of how to apply negative pressure cupping to alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase the range of motion, and promote the healing process. Day 1 will explore the theories and actions of cupping, indications and contraindications, and how to care for the cups. We will begin to learn the basic techniques to use the cups within our scope of practice and safety for the client and therapists when implementing cups in the treatment plan.  Day 2 will focus on practicing the techniques to accomplish outcomes such as decrease swelling, enhance lymphatic clearing, speed up the healing processes , enhance nervous system changes and promote relaxation using a variety of cups.  Day 3 will focus on practicing techniques to increase range of motion, increase circulation and blood flow to tissues, revise scar tissue, and decrease pain and restriction. We will use additional cups. Finally, we will review ways to incorporate this technique into your practice safely, ethically, and within your scope of practice.  Participants will leave the seminar armed with a useful technique and an understanding of the various tools and their applications.

Facial Massage Cupping

(6 Texas and NCBTMB CE’s)

Suction cup therapy is a traditional, time-honored treatment that remains favored by millions of people worldwide because it is safe, comfortable and remarkably effective for many health disorders.  By creating suction and negative pressure while manipulating the soft tissue, massage cupping can release rigid soft tissue, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bringing blood flow to skin and muscles.

This 1-day class will examine how applying negative pressure massage cupping to facial structures can help alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase the range of motion, enhance detoxification, and speed up the healing process. This class will outline the theory and actions of massage cupping to facial structures, the tools used to perform the technique and the basics of using the tools safely and effectively. Participants will leave the seminar armed with an additional useful technique that is non-invasive, painless and effective.

What you will learn in this class:

  • When and how to use cups appropriately
  •  Indications and contraindications of cupping techniques
  •  How to care for cups
  •  Understand the anatomy & physiology of the lymph system, swelling, and edema of the face
  •  How to use cups for lymphatic drainage
  •  Understand the anatomy & physiology of the muscular and facial systems of the face
  •  How to use cups for pain relief

Practice cups will be provided for use during the class and will be available for purchase after class.

What you will need to bring:

  • Linens
  • 2 washcloths
  • Bolster or pillow
